Plan your first look about 2 hours before the ceremony. After your private moment together, bring in the wedding party and immediate family for group shots. You'll have plenty of time, no one feels rushed, and you can truly be present for the celebration after your ceremony.

Many couples worry about seeing each other before the ceremony, but in my experience, first looks often create some of the most emotional and beautiful moments of the entire day.

3. Steal 15 Minutes During Dancing for Golden Hour

This is hands-down my favorite wedding photography tradition, and the photos are always incredible. About halfway through your dance party, when the energy is high and everyone's having a blast, step away for just 15 minutes to capture golden hour photos.

Why Golden Hour Photos During Dancing Are Different:

These aren't your typical posed couple portraits. By this point in the evening, you're relaxed, genuinely happy, and your authentic personalities shine through. The combination of beautiful golden light and your natural joy from celebrating creates the most stunning, personality-filled photos of your entire wedding day.

The Perfect Timing:

Watch for that magical hour before sunset (your photographer will know exactly when). The key is doing these photos when you're feeling most like yourselves.

Bonus: Your guests will be so busy dancing and having fun, they won't even notice you've stepped away. When you return, the party continues seamlessly.
